Join us from 2–4 PM for a guided painting workshop with Shin-Yiing Yeung inspired by Don Cherry’s Organic Music Society. Begin with a brief meditative practice to sharpen your listening senses before we cue the original vinyl in NorthStar’s acoustic space. As you paint on a provided 12×12 canvas, you’ll learn about Don and Moki Cherry’s journey—from facing discrimination in New York City to creating a sanctuary of sound and art in Sweden. Their story of perseverance and community building echoes NorthStar’s mission, uniting music, visual art, and collective healing. All paints, brushes, and canvases are supplied; just bring your curiosity and creativity. Whether you’re an experienced painter or picking up a brush for the first time, this two-hour session offers an immersive, interdisciplinary experience where every brushstroke resonates with rhythm and history.
